Could Not Have Been Better

Our family (with two teenagers) just returned from a wonderful vacation at the Retreat at Rum Point. This was our first time on the island and we did not know what to expect. It could not have been better. The condo is just outside (five steps away) from the great snorkeling and the beach. It feels like you have your own private beach. The snorkeling was amazing. We saw barracuda, sting rays, and all kinds of tropical fish. We even saw a turtle. Our children loved it and never got bored. The place where you can rent waverunners, kayaks, etc is right next to the complex. It is called Red Sail Sports and we used them to go to the Sting Ray city and it was amazing. The owners of the condo provided all relevant information and even left squid which we used to feel fish while snorkeling. The condo has everything you need, including a sun umbrella, cooler, floating devices. The kitchen is also very well equipped. We did not cook much but we were very happy for the coffee maker. We drove a couple of times to George Town for nice meals but we were very pleased that we were staying at Rum Point. There is a breakfast place about 10 min drive (Over the Edge), right on the water. All in all, we really, really enjoyed our vacation and hope to return. Oh, did I mention that my daughter wanted to buy this condo? :)  - Ivana B.

Snorkeling Right Off the Porch

We rent VRBOs regularly and this is definitely one of the best - pristine clean, everything you need, whether eating in or out, and great location with reef snorkeling right outside the back porch. Lovely quiet beach at the Retreat with a great bar and restaurant within two mins walk. Our 8 year old loved it and spent hours snorkeling the small reef out from the beach or under the pier - spotted a huge lobster under the night lights at the end of the pier and was so excited!...Kudos to #23 cleaning crew - everything really was in good shape!  Tim P. Texas

A Happy Stay in Paradise

We were excited to come to Grand Cayman for the first time and wanted something that was right next to the beach. We also wanted a place with fast wifi and some television in case we wanted that. We definitely got all of that and more at this lovely home. The place was immaculate and more beautiful in person. Moreover, the location is great if you want to be away from the busy part of the island. We enjoyed being able to walk to Rum Point and having our own kitchen with everything stocked. Our main goal was to do a lot of snorkeling in the island and we were able to do that right outside this rental. It was great! We communicated with the owners thru email about anything that came to mind and they were always so helpful. This is a beautiful home and I would definitely recommend staying here without hesitation.  -JM, Lousiana

Five Star Condo

This unit is a 5-star condo-beautiful, well appointed condo and well maintained property.  The pictures shown are exactly how the condo looks. It is clean, spacious, and has everything you would need, and more, for a comfortable, relaxing vacation. Enjoyed the view of the beach and turquoise water from the large screened-in porch while having breakfast and happy hours. We had a rental car which allowed us to travel to and explore the other areas of the island.  We snorkeled at Heritage Beach, Starfish Point, Seven Mile Beach, and an awesome snorkle at Spotts Beach where we saw sea turtles! Husbands had 3 great days of diving with Ocean Frontiers, and we booked our Sandbar Stingray trip through Ocean Frontiers.  We ate at Wreck Bar & Grill, Kaibo Grill, Reef Resort, Over the Edge, Eagle Rays Grill, and South Coast Bar & Grill.  The owners were exceptional to work with-answered all questions and emails within minutes.  Kudos to The office staff and housekeeping for all their good work.  Thank you for allowing us to call your gorgeous condo our "home" for a week. -J & R Manvel, Delaware

Two Weeks in Paradise

Words just can't express the fantastic time we had here !!!!!! Our family of enjoyed every thing about the Condo and never once felt cramped together. From our Ritual Morning Coffee on the Beach, to our Nightly Sunset Parties with People we met at the Retreat, we made so many memories !!! We snorkeled right off the beach, we swam in the beautiful pool, we ate, we drank, we napped....and then we did it all over again !!! You don't ever have to worry about dragging everything that you might need to the beach with you, because if you decide you forgot something...you live RIGHT there (at least for two weeks ). We of course did Stingray City, Dolphin Encounter, Turtle Farm, and explored the Island...but it was always best to come home to the condo and just relax ! Two weeks in Paradise....Priceless !!!!!!!!  - Guilford Girls

Beyond Our Expectations

We just returned from our ten day stay at Retreat #23, and it was absolutely wonderful. The condo was perfect for the two couples, and the location right on the beach was just as picturesque as we had hoped. We enjoyed the snorkeling right off the beach, and seeing the rest of the island, but the best part was just passing the hours in the chairs on the beach, especially at sunset. A visit to Stingray City is a must, and the snorkeling at the reef is unbelievable. We enjoyed all the local restaurants (especially Tukka), but we also cooked in the condo kitchen, which was immaculate and well equipped. Working with Katrina and the onsite staff at the Retreat was great, and I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone visiting Grand Cayman. We miss it already! - Two traveling couples

Out of a Picture Book

The condo was lovely and well equipped for a trip with mom, dad, and 2 kiddos under 3! The views from the screened in porch, living room & master bedroom were out of a picture book. You can see the most spectacular sunsets from right outside of the back door. We will certainly be back to The Retreat #23! Thank you for such a lovely stay!! - Christy L.

Absolutely Perfect

How do you find words to describe this place? A little slice of paradise. The condo was wonderful! It exceeded all our expectations. Katrina is a delight and her speed with responses is unbelievable. We stayed for a week with another couple and throroughly enjoyed everything about Rum Point Retreat 23. It is spacious and equipped with everything you could possibly need and then some. There are loads of linens and they are top notch from the dish cloths to the sheets and blankets. The kitchen is extremely well equipped. The washer, dryer and air conditioner are all great. We walked out the porch door and were within steps of the Ocean with the best of both worlds - a beautiful rocky coast curving into a lovely calm sandy beach. We sat out in the morning with our coffee and watched the sunrise and then at night we sat out again and watched the sunset. There are plenty of chairs and chaises and two picnic tables-the chairs are scattered around the beach and property and you can move them around. You feel as if there is no one else on the island but a short walk along the beach and around a corner takes you to a funky beachside restaurant and bar as well as watersports and equipment - we ate lunch there twice-but when at the Retreat you don't even know it is there. We did have a car and explored quite a bit. Starfish point with all the lovely star fish and crystal clear water was minutes away...a beautiful beach that was empty when we went several times. We did the Bio Bay nigh tour (such an exciting experience) which left from Kaibo which was very close. The Botanic Garden was wonderful and we did see the engangered blue iguanas. We did a private charter snorkeling and to Sting Ray City - priceless! We checked out some other snorkeling  spots and walked a little bit up the road to the public beach and raft snorkeled back to Rum Point. But with all those adventures, we were always glad to get back to the Condo - it was so special and magical. Thelda and Gigi (on-site managers) were so accommodating and everyone was so friendly. We are already talking about going back next year. And by the way....yes...it really does look like the pictures! There was not a single negative we can think of. Thanks again Katrina.  - Beth & Frank, PA

Perfect, Perfect, Perfect

Everything about this unit was fantastic! Very clean - cute - comfortable - the pictures do not lie! Love the slightly "isolated" location, but several restaurants nearby - we saw the entire island and so glad we did not stay on Seven Mile Beach! Great snorkeling right in front of the condo! We cooked most nights and the kitchen was well supplied. I would HIGHLY recommend this unit to anyone! Raleigh NC

Beautiful, Spacious Condo Just Steps from the Ocean

Beautiful, quiet spacious condo with all the amenities.  We had a very nice stay at this condo. If you are looking for a non commercial area, it is a great place to kick back and relax. This condo has great ocean views and we were not disappointed. The owners made us feel very welcomed by posting a welcome message on their white board on the refrigerator. Just nice touches that made a difference.  - Collins Family, Lexington, KY

Outstanding Beachfront Condo

Outstanding beachfront condo with large rooms, great views, numerous amenities and friendly people. A vacationers paradise to say the least. We availed ourselves with sunbathing, snorkeling, swimming, exploring, swimming with dolphins and holding infant turtles. And... fantastic restaurants. Everything stated by the owner or vrbo was right on the money.  - Gary & Kathleen, Florida

Most Relaxing and FUN Vacation EVER!!

Wow, we loved your condo at Rum Point. It’s a really lovely, comfortable and beautifully appointed home. And what a perfect location. We did some of the best snorkeling of the week right in front of your place. I’d never seen an eagle ray before and a huge one swam right below us on the the first day. We also swam with a very friendly turtle and lots of other charmers. I have to say my favorite was a little 6” stingray who basically played with me in about a foot of water near the beach. We’d been to Rum Point many years ago with the girls when we were staying on 7 Mile Beach about a decade ago. We liked it then, and more now, because it is away from the hubbub of the “city” life. It was an unforgettable week and lots of fun sharing it with our friends, one of whom learned to snorkle in front of the condo. Now she's addicted, like us! And we loved checking out the local restaurants and sights together. It was especially nice having the Retreat at Rum Point right on the other side of the hedge. Every day it was like having the choice of an all-inclusive resort or a private island get-away. You wouldn't know it was there unless you wanted to hang out at their cool bar or yummy restaurant...or swim under the dock. Or...um...sit in their beach chairs...or walk on their side of the beach...I WANT TO GO BACK!!! There was some native festival that we missed too. What a relaxing get-away. I guess I’m fully back to reality now. But there will always be beautiful memories. MaryAnn & Chuck, Marblehead, MA

Best Location on Rum Point and Maybe Grand Cayman

This beautiful unit (which has gorgeous views from every room and a fantastic porch) is perfect for families, couples, and multi-generational groups. We snorkeled to the reef every day and managed to even get our 94 and 91 year old grandmas in the water. Rum Point next door can keep the teens happy. The Retreat is well run and management offers good support as needed. Good restaurants in the area save the trip to town. –Jeannie, San Francisco, CA

Fabulous Beachfront Condo

We have stayed in many vacation rentals in Grand Cayman and other properties around the world. We did a lot of research before booking this unit. The owners were very friendly to us as were the other owners at the resort-we had informal sunset cocktails with several. Management was excellent and responsive to our needs. Gorgeous private setting and expansive views. Very well equipped kitchen and the photos do not do justice to the unit. Very clean and welcoming. With Rum Point next door, we enjoyed the beach bar restaurant and more formal and very good Rum Point restaurant. This area is not heavily touristed so if you are looking for some quiet times on the beach, this is the one. It is about a 40 minute drive to Georgetown if you are wanting a variety of shopping, restaurants, etc. so we drove into town to hang out, shop, then would go to a favorite restaurant. All main roads are well-marked and well-lighted. Very safe island which is not the case in most of the Caribbean anymore. I would recommend this to friends and families. - Sharon, US

Fantastic Condo- A Dream Vacation!

We stayed in unit #23 for a week for our anniversary and we had a fantastic time! We've been to the Caribbean a few times but this place tops them all. This unit's location was truly amazing. It's at the very tip of Rum Point so we got to see sunrise views on one side and gorgeous sunset views from the entire front side! We have never experienced this!  The condo is clean, well kept, and beautiful. Waking up surrounded by ocean views and serene beaches was surreal. It's a small complex so it feels very exclusive and private, (Rum Point is a more remote and pristine area than the over-developed Seven Mile Beach area.)  Our favorite activities were snorkeling, floating on rafts, or kayaking right outside our door. I was so happy we choose this unit on the ground floor because we loved the immediate beach access just outside the huge screened porch. It's also very quiet and peaceful. Rum Point Wreck Restaurant & Bar (casual and on the sand) and the Rum Point Club Restaurant (great food and near the water) are next door to the units, within a short walking distance.  There are plenty of excursions right there too like Jet skis, Stingray City excursions, glass bottom boat rides, snorkeling & diving trips, etc. These leave from the dock so it was perfect. Next time we are bringing our kids because we know they will absolutely love it too. Even the 2nd bedroom has a beautiful ocean view. We will definitely book this again. Loved it!!  - KM, Texas US,

Picture Perfect and (at least) all that it claims to be!

We went for my daughter's senior trip with a friend. She did not want to do the school's trip. There was one review of this property that we actually printed and took with us, hopefully it is still available as it was very thorough and helpful. This is a beautiful property with perfect "walk-out" beginner-intermediate level snorkeling. The properties next door at Rum Point make this the perfect get-away. You have the privacy of The Retreat next to a quaint hub of activity. The Retreat offers a small but clean pool, gated tennis courts, an activity center and very helpful staff (although we needed nothing as our stay was perfect). Know this, if you are planning on cooking go to Foster's IGA when you arrive and take your groceries out to the property with you. About a 25 minute drive from the airport so even ice cream can withstand the trek. You will pass a few fruit/veggie stands but if you have specific likes, I would stop first. There are coconuts all over and a hammer and nail in the kitchen so if you love coconut, enjoy. Don't buy any. Do bring a pair of sturdy water shoes (like Keen's) as the terrain on the north side of the condo is amazing to explore. The beach is truly right out your door and there is an added bonus of the northeastern side of the property being very interesting rock and coral formations. Makes for great natural exploring. Beach is sandy and very "bare-footable." While we were planning our trip, the owners were wonderful about answering questions in a timely and helpful manner. There is some snorkeling equipment there (we brought our own) and some beach/surf toys. Enjoy--it was definitely one of our top vacations. – Kimberly S.

Great Location @ Rum Point, Grand Cayman

This is one of my favorite vacation spots! I have vacationed on the north side of the island several times in the past, but I had never stayed at The Retreat. It is in walking distance of Rum Point and the unit we stayed in on the lower floor was great! We just walked out of our spacious screened-in porch and within a few steps there were lounge chairs with a gorgeous view of the ocean (great for reading and so peaceful!) You can walk a very short distance to a great restaurant and the Rum Point recreational area, where you can just relax, eat or drink to your heart's content. There are also rentals available for any type of water activity you desire. Very relaxing and great for those who just want to chill! I highly recommend this property and vacation spot! The managers of The Retreat were nice and friendly upon arrival. We talked with many wonderful, friendly people on the island and never met a stranger...I will definitely be back!!!  - Olivia T, Alabama

Loved It!

We spent five nights in Condo 23 and loved, loved, loved it! Beautiful water, private beach, with restaurants and activities within walking distance ... this place has it all! We experienced great snorkeling here as well - I saw a few yellow rays. For best experience, enter the water on the northeast side of the beach and let the current take you down to Rum Point. -L. Chattanooga, TN

Awesome!

We had a wonderful time at this condo in the Retreat at Rum Point. The condo is beautifully furnished, has all the things one needs. The balcony is great, and it is so quiet around the condo. If you go out the balcony and a 100 feet or so toward the left you have a smooth entry for snorkeling. My wife, myself and our two girls had a great time snorkeling! Rum point is great, except I wish the grocery stores were nearer. The owner is very nice. We had to cancel in February, and the owner was super-cool about it, and let us use the money in April. You can't go wrong with this condo. Make sure you take the sting ray trip from Red Sail Sports! – Ram, Boston MA,

A Perfect Tropical Family Retreat

The Retreat complex is nice and small. We traveled at the slowest time of the year (last full week of September) so only 3 or 4 units were occupied. Pool was relaxing with good sun and shade as well as clean restrooms. If you have been to the tropics before, everything applies here...a few bugs, lizards (which we have at home and enjoy), crabs in the lawn, stray rain showers, humidity, and diurnal breeze pattern. Management was great. Thelda handled any small requests we had efficiently. She is the perfect person to have as onsite representative! The kitchen was quite nice. It is much easier to make pancakes when you can look at that ocean view through the master bedroom and the livingroom glass wall! All appliances were clean/nice and we felt comfortable using them (no 'ick' factor). Thelda had a small Weber grill rolled out for our use the first day. As the condo has a wonderful screened-in porch, I could grill while the family sat at the patio table. The condo was very clean and bright. As the size (excluding screened-in porch) was about 1800sq ft, we had more than enough room. The entire northwest wall is sliding glass doors. The adjoining master bedroom has a smaller wall of glass doors, which, like the ones in the living room, open onto the screened-in porch. The northeast wall of the master has an expansive unobstructed view of the ocean! So, the condo has an entire wall of unobstructed ocean view from the northwest to the northeast!! The master has a nice garden tub and double sink vanity. The second bedroom has nice double beds with windows overlooking the ocean also. A single sink and nice tub are included in the second bath off of that bedroom. A half bath is in the hall near the foyer. We made use of the washer/dryer combo (buy detergent, paper towels, and toilet paper on your shopping trip). The dining table was spacious and centrally located in the open living space. Overall, the condo is open, airy, bright, and inviting! Water trays were placed at each entrance to clean our feet. Thus, the tile floor stayed quite clean all week. I cannot say enough about the convenience of the porch. The porch also has a pair of ceiling fans to increase the airflow. Beach, only steps away, was perfect for the kids. Snorkeling was excellent. Location is perfect for snorkeling, diving, beach, bioluminescent bay (across the street), and starfish beach. Overall, perfect for our needs. Owner was great. My highest recommendation! - Patrick, The Carolinas, US

Paradise!

This was our sixth trip to Grand Cayman and the fourth time staying at The Retreat at Rum Point. This was the first time staying in this unit and we found it to be perfect! The location is right on the beach, yet steps away from the area where most people sit or play, so affords some privacy from foot traffic and activity. The views of the sea from inside the condo are spectacular, including a view from the second bedroom. This was also the first time we've heard the surf as we've slept. The furnishings of the unit are lovely and tropical. We cook most of our meals and found the kitchen to have everything we needed in terms of appliances, pots, pan and utensils. There's a docking station for an ipod/iphone so it was nice to play our music. There are two tvs. They look nice, but we never turned them on. One sofa converts to a bed, which was convenient when our children got into a fight and decided to sleep separately!! There's maid service on Wednesdays, which is nice. Aside from the peace and quite, our favorite part about staying at the Retreat is the amazing snorkeling that can be done right in front of the condo. We saw an assortment of beautiful fish, including a lizard fish, which we've never seen before. We saw a sea turtle from shore, but did not see it from the water. There are also sting ray, lobster, conch and baracuda! Red Sails Sports is conveniently located up the beach for other adventures that include day trips. We took the Wave Runner Safari trip and had a blast learning about the nearby mangroves and also snorkeled in a lovely area. They do other trips as well as rent snorkel and other water sports equipment (kayaks, wave runners, aqua bikes). For eating out, our favorite spots are the Kaibo Yacht Club for lunch and Over the Edge Cafe for dinner. If you're looking for island paradise and low-key tropical fun, this is the place for you! – MM Minneapolis, MN

Private and Peaceful

I would stay at this condo again if I return to Rum Point. It was really big, much bigger than I expected. It was very clean and had tile throughout so that it stays clean. The bedrooms are fantastic since they both face the beach and have a beautiful beach view. The beds in both bedrooms were very comfortable and not worn out like many rental units get. I was impressed that they had extra towels including beach towels, and beach equipment like snorkels, flippers, noodles, etc. The kitchen was fully stocked with equipment although we didn't do much cooking. We almost stayed at Kaiboi down the road but I'm glad that we stayed at the Rum Point Resort since the beach here at Rum Point is better. You have the public Rum Point beach with chairs, hammocks, water sports rental, restaurant, gift shop about a 1 minute walk away. Otherwise you can stay on your own private beach (about 15 steps away from the porch) with plenty of chairs and shade trees which we did most of the time. It was drop dead beautiful, quiet and peaceful. The only drawback is that it takes about an hour drive to get to the seven mile beach area so if you have a beach that you want to check out or a restaurant in the seven mile area it will take you a while to get there and back.  - LW Chicago IL

Fifth Year at The Retreat!

This will be year number five at the Retreat at Rum Point!!! So needless to say we love the area! The Retreat is tucked around the corner from Rum Point and is very private but you just have to walk a few feet to Rum Point to get a cool Rum punch or a tasty lunch. Also great restaurant for dinner!!! We love the relaxing beach away from the crowds that is shallow and you can snorkel right off the beach,Great place for young kids as it is calm ans shallow. You will need to rent a car and driving on the left isn't to bad we just don't like the round a bouts!! But only two before you get to Rum point. Hurleys is the best grocery store for food. Find vivine's for lunch it is one of the best places for lunch on the island( grouper) besides Over the Edge. I could go on and on I mean George Town is nice to see once but to get the real feel of the Island you must tour around!!!! Last You Must go visit Nina at Beach Bubbles in Bodden Town!! If you like to bring gifts back to family Nina makes the most wonderful soaps all homemade on the island!as we'll of lotions and other gifts that are not expensive believe me my friends now beg me to bring them some!!! As I write this I add looking forward to next week. We will be on our way to Grand Cayman for a total of over 4 weeks!!!!

Heaven on the Beach

My family and I have stayed at this property 2 years in a row and will be there next year. I guess that pretty much says it all. The photos on the web site are accurate and the condo is very well maintained. The management on site is very helpful as well. The snorkeling right off the beach is awesome and the water is very calm. You will need to rent a car as the airport is 45 minutes away and the major grocery stores are about the same distance. We have done a lot of travelling and keep returning to Grand Cayman as we find it very clean and safe.  Tim, Rochester NY

Perfect in Every Way
Just returned from our stay on Grand Cayman/Rum Point 23 and we were very happy with our choice. The condo was spotless on arrival, the location was great (away from the busy west side of the island) and the snorkeling was excellent. It was very relaxing in every way, and the only problem was we should have booked our stay for a longer period of time...my fault! My wife and I had been to the island before (on a cruise) and had rented a car so we could check things out for a future trip, so we knew that food would be on the pricey side, which it was. We ate all of our evening meals out, and tried quite a few restaurants, eating at Tukka several times. If you get there early they have a happy hour with discounted appetizers and drinks. As far as the snorkeling goes, because of the wind coming out the WNW we waited until the end of our trip to go down the street and start at the Caman Kai Public access, which I highly recommend! We saw turtles, rays, a shark (yes, a shark!) squid, and tons of fish, both large and small. There is a man made reef on the right side of the pier about halfway out from shore that holds lots of fish, and under the pier itself there are lots of fish also (good for windy days.) The snorkeling was as good as advertised! We all felt very safe staying in this area, which is not the case everywhere you go...my wife and I would return in a heartbeat! Jay G., Iowa

Fantastic Location at Rum Point Retreat

My wife and I stayed at the Retreat at Rum Pt from Sep.11 - Sep.16. The 2 bedroom ground floor unit was superb with a beautiful screened lanai. The unit was large, clean, and had all the amenities we needed. Views from the unit were great and it was nicely furnished and all around very comfortable. The complex itself is very nice and well maintained. Pool looked very inviting too, but we mostly enjoyed the beach right in front of the unit. September is somewhat off season I think and everything was quiet and relaxed which is what we needed for our vacation. Wreck bar just adjacent is great for lunch and drinks (wife really liked their smoothies). The main restaurant was closed til I think Nov. due to the off season, but that didn't bother us. Had a great meal at Over the Edge Cafe one evening. We did some cooking in our unit which was really nice too. We also did our grocery shopping at Hurley's the day after arrival and found it quite good. I highly recommend Retreat at Rum Pt and the on site management staff was great.  HB, Santa Fe, NM

The Perfect Retreat

This was the most relaxing vacation I had in many, many years. The condo was so lovely and pristine. Truly a private oasis. It could not be more perfectly situated - directly on the beach in the best area for snorkeling. Great restaurants near by with one just next door. Excursions to Sting Ray City were conveniently by the dock, just steps from the condo. You will need to rent a car for groceries and to venture out to explore this beautiful island. This condo is well maintained and offers seclusion with a private beach. No other hotels or condos adjacent so no crowds - much better choice than Seven Mile. There is a lunch/snack bar and restaurant, water sports and activities conveniently next door.  The people were very friendly. If you need to recharge your battery and looking for a great private and quiet place to stay, choose this little heaven. I am sure to return.  CC, NYC

Perfect Location

We stayed in unit 23 and woke up to crystal clear ocean views on each side of our unit. Snorkeling just steps outside of our door. For several days we were the only ones on our small but beautiful beach, it was heavenly. The room was spacious and clean, there is a small grill available outside, which was convenient for beachside bbq. Steps away is rum point where you can relax under shade, eat a great mahi sandwich, get a frosty drink and swim in a crystal clear cove. Can't wait to go back to this laid back side of the island again some day!!   Just a girl, Atlanta GA

Ideal beachfront Condo Away from the Crowds

his is our third visit to Rum Point, and the condo was far and away the best of them all! The location is perfect - right on the beach, and only a short walk to Rum Point Club where they serve the most fantastic margaritas! The condo was clean, light, bright and comfortable as well as being very well equipped. The only advice I have for anyone staying at Rum Point is do not arrive on a Sunday. All the grocery stores on the island are closed, as are most of the restaurants. We had to make the 45 minute drive the next morning, time we could have been on the beach...This is not a reflection on the condo, which was just lovely. We went with our two granddaughters over Spring Break, and they enjoyed it as much as we did. Having the Sting Ray City outing as well as the bio luminescence trip so close really made life easy! Thank you Katrina and Matt for sharing your lovely place, we hope to be back next year! - Vivian D.
